Porsche-Inspired: 2022 Hermes Speedster Yacht

Good Find Friday features interesting vehicles we’ve found for sale while conducting market analysis or appraisal research. They are not for sale by Wolf and Mare and we have no business relationship with the sellers. We just think they’re worth learning about and sharing with our readers!
This week’s Good Find Friday is a bit of a short one, as I’m taking the next couple of days off to attend Luftgekühlt 11, a celebration of air-cooled Porsche cars occurring just a couple hours from me in Durham, North Carolina. Speaking of Porsches, Wolf and Mare is offering a beautiful Aquamarine Blue over tan 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster for sale, and today’s feature vehicle, a 2022 Hermes Speedster Yacht, would make a fine companion to this exceptional automobile.
Hermes Speedster Yacht

I remember seeing ads for this lovely boat in magazines, usually finished in black and positioned next to a matching black Porsche 356 Speedster. As described in this article on Porsche’s website, the CEO of Seven Seas Yachts considered the Speedster his favorite car of all time, and created a yacht design evoking the details of the curvaceous vintage Porsche.

The execution of the Speedster-inspired elements may not appeal to everyone, and the boat’s creator admits that the design is polarizing. It’s worth noting that the Hermes name used here is a reference to the Greek god and not the luxury Parisian brand.

This Hermes Speedster is finished in Porsche Iris blue metallic over a tan interior, and is said to be the only example of this particular boat in this color combination in North America. It’s currently offered for sale on Yachtworld and is located in Tampa, Florida. The asking price is $149,500 and recently had a $30,000 price reduction.

The hull of the boat is sleek and curvy, like its inspiration. Details cribbed from the stripped-down 356 Speedster include a pair of engine grilles at the rear, a pair of fixed back bucket seats, eyebrow gauge pod on the dash, chrome cut-down windshield and pull-knob switchgear. While the Speedster had only a single engine grill on its rear decklid for cooling, later 356s had two, so we’ll forgive Seven Seas Yachts for the adjustment.

The engine on the boat is a Rotax 1530 ACE reading 21 hours of engine operation to date and delivers 170hp to a jet-drive propulsion system. A review on Boat International Magazine noted that the boat handled not unlike a jet ski and was “fun as hell to drive!”

The owner is apparently selling to upgrade to the Venus Speedster X, which offers more space, luxury and performance than the Hermes Speedster on offer.
Final Thoughts
The original purchase price of the boat was around $249,000, making the asking price compelling enough to consider as a companion to an authentic Porsche 356 Speedster automobile in your collection. According to BoatTrader.com’s online pricing tool, the average price for a Hermes Speedster is $104,625, so you’ll have to judge for yourself whether this example’s condition and specification are worth the asking price.

In my opinion, this lovely yacht would be a great acquisition to pair with the beautiful ’58 Speedster we have on offer. Obviously, I’m a bit biased.
Have a great weekend, everyone, and we’ll see you after Luftgekühlt 11!
