The Brooklands Velocity Auction: 5 Special Cars
Sean Rooks | November 17, 2025

The world of the automobile is so vast that I’m certain I could spend a lifetime studying it and still learn something new every day. Today, I learned there is a thing called Mercedes-Benz World. As it caters to buyers of brand new Mercedes vehicles and not classics, I hope you’ll forgive me for my lack of awareness. In today’s Market Monday, I’m previewing the upcoming Historics Auctioneers Brooklands Velocity Auction, held in Surrey, UK at this unique Mercedes-Benz experience venue.

Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, located on the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit, is a multi-story brand experience center designed to showcase the company’s heritage and technology. Visitors can explore museum-style exhibits, interactive displays, and a wide range of Mercedes-Benz models across eras. The building also offers panoramic views of the surrounding circuit grounds.

A major draw is the set of purpose-built handling tracks, where guests can book driving experiences in the latest AMGs to G-wagens. Professional instructors guide participants through performance, drifting, and control exercises. The site also hosts events, retail spaces, and family activities, making it a destination for enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
Historics Auctioneers Brooklands Velocity Auction
The Brooklands Velocity Auction by Historics Auctioneers at Mercedes-Benz World has become a regular fixture in the classic-car calendar, with the November 2025 event marking another edition of this long-running autumn auction. Historically, the sale has drawn a diverse mix of marques and styles — for instance, in the 2024 auction, there were 153 lots listed, with 94 sold for a total of approximately US $2.6 million.
This year’s sale features 202 lots ranging from pre-war MGs to modern McLarens. 32 of those lots are offered at no reserve, which may present the opportunity for some bargains for bidders. The auction takes place on November 29, 2025 at 9:30 AM, so you have plenty of time to register for a paddle number!
5 Special Cars at the Brooklands Velocity Auction
Out of the many cool classics and collectibles on offer at the Brooklands Velocity Auction, there are a handful that caught my eye for their uniqueness. Many would be drawn to cool customs such as the Pool Hustler, Wolfrace Sonic and George Barris “Sidewinder” Trike and those cars are well worth a look, but my tastes are more traditional. Listed below are the 5 cars I find most interesting at the upcoming Brooklands Velocity Auction.

If you’re not familiar with HELM, they are sort of the “Singer Reimagined” of Jaguar E-Types. The exterior bodywork of this gorgeous cat has been replaced with handmade aluminum panels, and the interior trimmed in the finest leather. Bespoke wire wheels, an uprated suspension system and a modernized fuel-injected 500hp 3.8-liter engine are just some of the other upgrades. This particular car is the first ever made and appears to be flawless. Estimated at £215,000-£280,000, this kind of beauty comes at a price.

I love Triumphs, and might be able to pick up something like a ratty TR4 some day to bomb around in. If I had the means, I’d definitely consider this car. Built for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this works-prepared TR2 is said to have finished 15th overall in 1955’s race. The car is said to need some reconditioning, but is eligible for entry in historic motorsport events thanks to its provenance. The car is estimated at £150,000-£210,000.

Styled by one of my favorite designers, Giorgetto Giugiaro, the Ghibli rivaled the Ferrari Daytona in its time. Just 125 Spyders were built during its production life, making this a rare Italian drop-top. Powered by its numbers-matching V8 engine and appearing to be in excellent cosmetic condition, this tour-ready Ghibli is estimated to hammer between £265,000 and £300,000.

The first-generation Vanquish is famously known as James Bond’s camouflaged spy car from the film Die Another Day, but the vehicle also represents a significant evolution in the brand’s design language and technical expertise. While its V12 engine and beautiful style are captivating, the car was saddled with a disappointing automated manual transmission. What makes this example special is its having been treated to Aston Martin Works’ bespoke manual conversion. Now showing just 6,700 miles from new, it’s estimated at £105,000-£120,000. If your collection needs a gen-one Vanquish, the ‘S’ with with three pedals is the way to go.

While not particularly valuable, this Audi RS4 was famously decorated in rally livery for use in the Grand Tour episode A ‘Scandi Flick‘. The car’s steering wheel was gripped and driven in anger by none other than Jeremy Clarkson, and the all-wheel-drive Audi is now offered with 74,000 miles and a fresh MOT. For UK buyers, the private license plate is included in its estimated price of £28,000-£35,000.
Final Thoughts
Which of the cars above would I most like to own? All of them — save for one — are right-hand drive. Steering a car from the wrong side is relatively easy to get used to, but for effortless and enjoyable driving on US motorways, I prefer my steering wheel on the correct side. Therefore, the Maserati Ghibli would have to be my choice. Aside from that, just look at that interior!
There are over 200 cars heading to auction at the Brooklands Velocity Auction, so there are plenty of cars to choose from. What would you like to see in your garage?
