In the 1960 film The Time Machine, the titular device whisked its occupant through the centuries amid plush seating, ornate gold fixtures and crystal-encrusted controls. This 1968 Ford Bronco by Velocity Restorations makes much the same promise, delivering a journey to another time in a luxurious, high-performance package.

From its 135,000 square foot facility in Florida, Velocity Restorations produces modern classic vehicles that combine vintage style with contemporary performance. The company is perhaps best known for the Velocity Ford Bronco Signature Series, which was developed to minimize the unknowns inherent to a classic restoration while improving the modern classic production experience.

Powered by a 5-Liter Ford Coyote V8 engine mated to an automatic overdrive transmission, this Velocity Restorations Signature Series Ford Bronco was ordered by the original client in April of 2021. It’s now offered for sale by an independent dealer with a Virginia title and registration.

Introduced for the 1966 model year, the first-generation Ford Bronco was developed as a compact, four-wheel-drive utility vehicle to compete with the Jeep CJ and International Harvester Scout. Built on a dedicated boxed steel frame with a short 92-inch wheelbase, solid axles, and coil-spring front suspension, it combined rugged off-road capability with surprisingly civilized road manners.

Offered as a Roadster, Wagon, or half-cab pickup, the Bronco appealed to ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families alike, though sales were eventually eclipsed by larger, more comfortable competitors. Today, the early Bronco has become one of the most sought-after American collector 4x4s, prized for its timeless styling, mechanical simplicity, restoration potential and broad aftermarket support, with values rising significantly over the past decade.

This 1968 Ford Bronco was rebuilt by Velocity Restorations in Florida in 2021 following the company’s Signature Series typical build program, with the notable upgrade option of fender flares with bullet rivets. The car is finished in non-metallic Anvil Grey PPG paint over a tan interior.

The exterior of this 1968 Ford Bronco by Velocity Restorations features bolted-on fender flares and seals, J.W. Speaker LED headlights, all-new glass and weather seals, dual synchronized windshield wipers, chrome trim, factory-style chrome bumpers, and a fold-down rear tailgate. The overall condition of the exterior is excellent, with only a few small blemishes in the finish as documented in the photo gallery.

A four-point roll cage protects the interior, which features Velocity-design high-back front seats and rear folding seats draped in tan natural upholstery. The floors are covered in Raptor Liner for durability and protection and covered with custom Chilewich mats. A wood-rimmed aluminum-spoke steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable IDIDIT column with integrated shift lever. A Dakota Digital combination emblazoned with Velocity branding provides readings on speed, RPM, fuel, battery, coolant temperature and oil pressure. 

Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning by Vintage Air, locking center console with USB and 12-volt ports, custom trimmed door pockets with speakers, three-point safety belts for the front passengers, and rear seat belts. The condition of the interior is excellent with no rips or tears in the upholstery. The windows are manual-wind.

The immaculate and well-organized engine bay houses the 5.0-liter Ford Coyote V8 engine. Rated at 450 horsepower, the Coyote provides cowl-lifting performance with more efficient fuel consumption. Also visible in the engine bay is a protective layer of Raptor Liner, an extended cold air intake, and a Wilwood brake master cylinder. Signifying its authenticity, a Velocity Restorations build plate adorns the rear firewall and indicates a serial number of 218. No leaks or any operating issues are observed.

It would appear that this capable 4×4 rides on an original, but fully restored Bronco chassis. Both axles are new, however, with a Dana 44 up front and a 9” Ford axle in the rear. Drive shafts from each axle connect to an Atlas transfer case. Wilwood disc brakes are mounted at all four corners and provide plenty of stopping power for this rather light platform. Bilstein shock absorbers dampen the ride from James Duff springs up front and Deaver leaf springs out back. The chassis is in excellent condition, with some very light dirt and wear visible. Much of the plated hardware components retain their original finish.

The truck rides on 17” Mickey Thompson polished alloy wheels mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires in size LT285/70R17. The date codes on the sidewall indicate manufacture in 2020 and the tires have good tread all around. The front wheels feature WARN locking hubs.
